This is Dear Nora/Casiotone cover of Missy is IMO the best argument for covers. The song morphs into something else, something it wasn’t before. And it’s a lot of fun.
This is from the Bro Zone comp from a few years ago, and really opened my eyes musically at a time when I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. I was fresh out of college, experimenting with all sorts of different stuff. It didn’t and still doesn’t really sound to me like anything I was listening to then. It’s its own thing. I like how hard they own the stumbles and stutters. The whole comp puts me right back where I was at that time in my life. For about a year it was this comp and “Darkened Car” by Little Wings.
Anyways, I am playing tonight at Holocene here in Portland. It’s a solo show and the spirit is rambunctious, so come hang with me and dance with yourself beside someone else. xoc
